4. With the aid of the CM we succeeded in reverse engineering the design of an emotional robot that operates with an hedonic motivational system and a top level specification based on a Darwinian Hierarchical Task Diagram. We propose that this motivational circuit is the long sought after motivational system in the brain. This discovery should be hailed by engineers, scientists, and philosophers as a major breakthrough for the whole of humanity. For the first time in civilization’s history of scientific endeavor, we have proposed a technical (not philosophic) solution to the mind body problem. For the first time in medical history, we closed the functional loop between the operation of the somatic motor system, the involuntary autonomic organic system, an d the functional motivational system in the brain. 5. With the aid of the CM we designed a robot that can “hear” and comprehend verbal speech, that can verbalize (talk) what it “hears” and exhibit characteristics of declarative memory (in addition to the procedural memory exhibited by multi-tasking RRC-robots). This discovery is a major breakthrough in the field of artificial Intelligence, speech processing (speech recognition and robotic verbalization), and the evolution of language. 6. The only way to go to design a humanoid- intelligent system (that will be competitive with humans): The CM (with the “self” and a “transformed world” designed into the brain), is the only design path that will lead to a “humanioid” intelligent robotic system. This “central self” in the brain or controller underscores the difference between humanoid intelligence and artificial intelligence.
Questions such as this are often posed at cognitive science symposia-conferences: “Building intelligent systems with the human level of competence is the ultimate grand challenge for science and technology in general, and the computational intelligence community in particular. How are we going to achieve it?”
The answer: There is only one way to achieve it. That way is the design path of the CM and the “self” and “self knowledge” of the “transformed world” designed into the RRC-controller. Comprehension, verbalization, conceptualization, and declarative memory are the basic functional tools of the brain/controller that lead to experiential learning of humans or humanoid robots. These can best be designed into a humanoid robot by reverse engineering the functional programming or learning of humans as they gain experiential intelligence from infancy to adulthood. 7. All the advances enumerated from 1-6 result from reverse engineering Darwin’s laws as they apply to the adaptations of the human body and brain. The advances represent a first step in a long journey of science and discovery into organic function and human and animal behavior. We, at MCon, introduced the new journals MCTJ and MCPJ because we believe that reverse engineering and Darwin’s laws are the most powerful scientific tools that will lead us through many more steps along this journey of scientific discovery. At this time, the CM is a totally unexplored realm of science. We ask you, as a scientist or engineer, or as a thoughtful, sensitive and observant, self conscious person, to use the techniques of reverse engineering and Darwin’s laws, to take us a few steps forward in this long journey, and contribute your technical observations and studies to the MCTJ and MCPJ (see guide for authors). As a first step, scientists and engineers are asked to read a proposed quantitative formulation of Darwin’s laws.
